The former Notts County and Coventry City goalkeeper led Singapore to back-to-back titles in 2004 and 2007 with first Indonesia and then Thailand the victims in the final.
Singapore were fancied to maintain their domination of the AFF Suzuki Cup at the last edition but went out at the semi-final stage to eventual winners Vietnam.
Like Thailand, Singapore will be bidding for a record fourth title having first won the tournament in 1998.
