Manchester City sign Robinho

New signing Robinho will wear the number 10 shirt, MCFC can confirm.
The Brazilian star became a Blue just minutes ahead of last night’s transfer deadline.
So in keeping with the news, here are mcfc.co.uk's Top 10 Robinho facts!!
  1. Joined the Beira-Mar football academy when just six years old, playing alongside future Real team mate Marcelo.
  2. When nine he joined Portuários, scoring 73 goals before moving to the famous Santos club, where their youth set-up was overseen by none other than Pele.
  3. Signed pro forms with Santos at 18, and immediately made an impact, scoring nine goals when they won the Brazilian championship in 2002.
  4. Made his debut for Brazil in a defeat to Mexico in 2003.
  5. Robinho’s mother was kidnapped in 2004 and held hostage for six weeks, being released unharmed after payment of a ransom.
  6. Having been tracked by several European clubs, Robinho was transferred to Real Madrid in July 2005.
  7. Made four substitute appearances for Brazil at the 2006 World Cup Finals.
  8. Played a key part in Real’s two consecutive La Liga title wins, despite falling out with then-manager Fabio Capello for a time in 2006/07.
  9. Took the Golden Boot trophy as Brazil won the 2007 Copa America tournament.
  10. Signed for City just before midnight on September 1st 2008, taking the number 10 shirt.
